My interest in all things radio came from my exposure to the CB craze in the late 1970's. In those days 11M (27MHz) was a ham radio band which was being used (illegally) by CB radio operators to talk around the globe using only 12 watts. These efforts (unbeknownst to me) were assisted by the fact the CB craze coincided with a peak in the 11 year sunspot cycle.
Whilst I was at high school I madly studied away to get pass my theory and regulations exam, but it was not until over a decade later VK3DP taught me enough morse to pass the novice exam. My first call VK3NCP, I soon upgraded to VK3KCP and them moved to VK5 and took the call VK5JJJ. In 2008 I got my two-letter call from a WIA ballot and I am now VK5CP.
I am an WIA examiner and from 29 May 2010 will be a Director of the Wireless Institute of Australia. I am a member of the Amateur Radio Experimenters Group in Adelaide
I hope you enjoy my web site. The photo above is taken from the base of the tower at my remote shack near Mannum on the Murray River. Its is 'stitched' from a number of photos.
